Work Experience

Prior to founding Smilezone Dental Clinic, Dr Carol worked as a paediatric dentist at Dr Michael’s Dental Clinic, the top dental clinic in Dubai, UAE serving children from very diverse backgrounds globally. She began her career in paediatric dentistry in 2007 as a Paediatric Dental Resident at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital where she treated patients under conscious sedation and general anaesthesia, collaborated with various specialists in the management of patients with complicated craniofacial disorders, and treated patients in both the Adult and Paediatric Emergency Department.

From 2010–2013, Dr Carol teamed up with other physicians and dentists working for the U.S government at one of their health centres in Germany. In this collaboration, Dr Carol was the sole paediatric dentist serving a community of over a thousand children. She trained dental assistants in the Red Cross Program and integrated an intensive preventive oral health care component in their day-care centres and schools.

Dr Carol is a strong advocate of preventive oral health care for underserved communities and has been a dental volunteer in several countries since 2004. As a consultant for Global Child Dental Fund in partnership with Harvard University and King’s College London, she helped organise continuing education for community oral health officers in Kenya, which was the first continuing education session in almost 20 years. Through the same organisation and partnerships, she helped organise the Senior Dental Leadership Program in 2014 in London, bringing together global dental leaders to tackle and address some of the pressing challenges affecting children’s oral health around the world.
